The Emergent Rules

"The most commonly held aim of postmodern architects is to achieve an urbane urbanism."
-Charles Jenks

According to the article it describes this look such as, the street, the arcade, the piazza, and yet it also acknowledges the new technologies and means of transport.

My idea of this "Urbanism" and Postmodern architecture is represented in Dubai, "City of the Future". Like I said in class they have a new skyscraper that was built, with 68 floors each with the ability to rotate independently. I found a website in which discusses this new building, if anyone is interested in visiting it is an amazing stucture.

The reason I believe postmodern architecture weighs heavily on this urban look is because of the advances in technology that we see almost everyday. We are always wanting the newer, faster and better types of technology. My idea of this postmodern architecture, brings this newer, better technology idea in itself.

"The 1,378-foot building's apartments would spin a full 360 degrees, at voice command, around a central column by means of 79 giant power-generating wind turbines located between each floor... The slender building would be energy self-sufficient as the turbines would produce enough electricity to power the entire building and even feed extra power back into the grid..."-BBC News

This building is the first of its kind, I believe it is a great example of the idea of Urbane Urbanism.
