The subject of post-modernism is extremely intriguing. I found the topic of reinvention interesting. Our society constantly needs to be entertained. I’ve traveled to different countries and have found that the entertainment business doesn’t have quite the strong impact than in
Madonna is an example of an entertainer who is constantly is re-inventing herself. She knew that its important to constantly changes ones image in order to continuing capturing the attention of fans and the media. If she never was changing her look she wouldn’t be famous now. I believe her re-invention is part of the reason for her huge successes over the years. Boring gets old. People get tired of the same old, same old. Thus, the reasoning for re-invention in American culture. Americans have relied so much on staying busy and occupied. Living in such a materialistic based society feeds the topic of entertainment. The entertainment business keeps feeding the American public more and more while presenting them with new products, new materials, new cars, new movies, new everything.
Therefore, constantly driving the need for more. More entertainment, more money, more everything. We also discussed the concept of speed in our culture which ties into the constant need of being entertained. We always are striving for bigger, better, and faster. That’s what makes our country unique in the fact that our culture is constantly re-inventing itself. Coming up with new technologies, new products, new film, new tv, new everything. Everything and anything you can imagine is getting better and faster. I think the fast past, bigger, better, and faster culture is beneficial and keeps things interesting.
